Welcome to the Symposium GEMME and the White Book on Mediation in Catalonia. GEMME (European Group of Judges for Mediation) together with the White Book research project led by the Department of Justice of the Catalan Government organize the simposium with the following different topics:

• Development and enforcement of the European Directive 52/2008

• Relationship between the judicial courts and mediation: the role of the judge duty of mediators

• Experience of judges in the Member States

• Judges’ training for mediation

• Derivation of cases

• Implementation of mediation public policies in the different EU states

• Conflict resolution and management and position with regard to the justice courts

• First results of the White Book on Mediation in Catalonia project (and other related projects).
  

We have applied for funds from the European Union in order to include this event within the programs to strengthen the European judicial space, that is why judges and mediators from Portugal, France, Italy and Romania will be coming. A strategic alliance has been formed with their home countries to spread mediation in the south of Europe.
